Odds ratio in Spanish
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the most important measures of association in epidemiology is the “odds ratio,” a term in English. In particular, it is the measure used to evaluate an association in epidemiological case-control studies, a study design conceived by our science and popularized since the middle of the last century. Its translation from English has so many versions in Spanish that odds ratio is often used instead of the translations, perhaps because they do not clarify the nature of the measure. Our journal has used “cociente de suertes”, and the editorial team prepared this note to present the arguments for its choice, awaiting feedback from readers.
